Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 5, 2026

This policy explains what PartyBox collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers both people using PartyBox and businesses that appear on or advertise through it.

What we collect about you

Account details. Your name and email address when you create an account, plus a profile photo if you add one.

What you do here. The plans you open, build, save, remix and share, the events you tap, and the searches you run. This is what lets us build a route that fits you instead of a generic list.

Taste signals, if you give them. Scenes you pick, or aggregated listening data if you connect Spotify. We keep the summary, not your listening history, and we do not keep the access token after we have read it.

Device and technical data. IP address, browser and device type. Where we store these for security or consent purposes we store a one way hash, not the raw value.

Business information

PartyBox maintains a directory of Toronto and GTA nightlife operators, venues, promoters and related businesses. This is built from information those businesses have published publicly themselves, such as public social profiles, public event listings and public websites, together with what businesses tell us directly.

We use it to keep event listings accurate, to route people to relevant rooms, and to tell a business about demand we can actually measure for them. If you run a business and want your information corrected or removed, email us and we will do it.

Advertisers

When you ask to promote a business on PartyBox we collect what you give us: your public business handle or website, your category, your service area, what you want customers to do, and your contact details. We use it to work out whether we can honestly deliver what you are asking for, and to reply to you.

If you go ahead, payment is processed by Stripe. PartyBox does not see or store your full card number. Once a placement is live we measure qualified impressions and taps on that placement so we can report real delivery to you.

How we use it

To run the product: showing you events and plans, building routes, saving your work, and sending you the messages you asked for. To improve it: understanding which surfaces work. To keep it safe: preventing spam, fraud and abuse. To prove value to operators: reporting measured, aggregated demand.

Email

We send you email you have asked for. Every commercial email has a working unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing is permanent: an address that opts out is suppressed and cannot be re added by any public form on the site. You can also reply to any email and reach a person.

What we tell nightlife operators, and why

This is the part most apps bury, so we will say it plainly, because it is the whole point of PartyBox.

When you search, build a plan, save something or tap an event, that tells us what Toronto actually wants on a given night. We turn that into demand intelligence and hand it back to the venues, promoters and organizers who run the rooms, so they can programme the nights people are genuinely asking for instead of guessing. Better information going to the people who book the city is how the city gets better nights.

What they receive is aggregate. How many people searched their scene, which nights are heaviest, what the city is moving toward. An operator sees "47 people searched Afrobeats for Saturday". They do not receive your name, your email, your account, or your individual activity, and they never learn that one of those 47 was you.

We do not sell your personal information, to operators or to anyone else, for any purpose.

The one exception is deliberate and obvious: if you buy a ticket or RSVP to a specific event, that organizer receives what they need to get you through the door, the same as any ticket purchase.

Who else we share it with

Service providers who run parts of the platform on our behalf, including Stripe for payments, Resend for email, Clerk for accounts, and our hosting and analytics providers. They may only use it to provide that service to us.

How long we keep it

Account information for as long as you have an account. Suppression records permanently, so that an unsubscribe stays honoured. Business directory and cultural records are kept as an ongoing record of the city's nightlife, and a past event is archived rather than deleted so the history stays intact.

Your choices

You can review and update your account information at any time, unsubscribe from any commercial email, ask for a copy of what we hold about you, and ask us to delete it. Email us and we will action it.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

PartyBox is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date.
